Park Plaza Cooperative is one of the first recipients of the City of Fridley’s inaugural Sustainable Fridley Awards. The award celebrates efforts to make the city a more sustainable community and was given to an individual, a business, an institution and a youth.

Mayor Dave Ostwald presented the award to Natividad Seefeld, President of Park Plaza’s Board of Directors, at the Dec. 8 City council meeting. “I’m honored to accept this award on behalf of the entire community,” Seefeld said. “I’m also so proud of what we’ve done to revitalize Park Plaza – our residents really care about each other and our community.”
The Environmental Quality and Energy Commission recommended Park Plaza Cooperative for the award to recognize their partnership with the city on tree planting, water efficiency, and recycling projects as well as the installation of solar on community buildings and participation in energy efficiency programs. Seefeld said many of these initiatives are ongoing and the community will become even more sustainable in the coming years.
